Sketch of the first dance
The story behind the creation of the sculpture "Sketch of the First Dance"
Excerpt from the speech by Mr. Axel Poniatowski, Member of Parliament and Mayor of L'Isle-Adam, at the inauguration on September 27, 2003:
“The municipal team and I were invited to an exhibition in April 2002 in Parmain, which had been organized by the municipality of Parmain. During this meeting, several of us were already extremely impressed by Galya's talent, and we clearly agreed to do something. Galya came to exhibit at the L'Isle-Adam Art Market exactly a year ago and offered us this miniature sculpture*.”

Responding to the wish expressed by the mayor of L'Isle-Adam, which was to create a monumental sculpture representing a couple of dancers, Galya created "Sketch of the First Dance".
This artwork is located on the banks of the Oise river, opposite the Michel Poniatowski cultural center. It is part of the cultural heritage of L'Isle-Adam.
On this bank bordering the towpath, two beings huddled together, undisturbed by the many Adamois walkers or tourists in search of a romantic stroll, are beginning an improvised choreography to the rhythm of their hearts.
In infinite tenderness, this serene and accomplished couple were united forever on the banks of the Oise.
